The story Beautiful Masterpiece (Thin Red Lines Book 1) by Gen Ryan is a thrilling/psychological suspense book. This is the story of Madison Harper. Her childhood has always haunted her. What she went through was unimaginable. Now Madison is looking forward to finishing her doctorate and to become an FBI agent. She wants to help the innocent. Then the unthinkable happens. The man who made her childhood a nightmare escapes. Now her plans to join the FBI have been fast-tracked. She also has two agents assigned to protect and to train her. What they both teach her is more than she expected to learn. What will the final outcome to this situation be? The man that escaped is Madison’s father. What are his plans and will he be recaptured?
This is a book that had me quickly turning pages to find out what happens next. It also had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The atmosphere that is created is a tense one and does become dark. There are also times when hope shines through and you can’t help but wish for the best outcome for Madison. Madison still has flashbacks to her childhood and what she went through. She is always haunted by the memories of her mother and of losing her. Madison is also driven to achieve her set goals in life. She works hard to succeed and it shows especially when her training for the FBI is fast-forwarded. Madison sometimes takes risks when she acts. Will her impatience in ending her current situation lead to more danger both to her and those around her?
The agents who are assigned to Madison are as different as night and day. At times they are downright hostile to one another. This is not a good situation as they both have to work together in order to keep Madison safe. Will these agents hostility towards each other cause Madison to be harmed? I have always loved thrilling/suspense books. Stories like this one are the reason why. The storyline and characters are amazing. This is the first book in a series and I can’t wait to read the next one. This story does have scenes of violence, sexual content, adult language, and sensitive subject matter. It would be for those 18 years of age or older.
Granted 2016 isn't over yet, but I've got to say, so far this is the best book I've read this year. The author told me I'd need tissues--I don't cry, I said, so I blew off the warning. Tears didn't actually fall, but I will say that I was heartbroken. I was angry. I was a lot of different emotions, actually. If you have an emotion you want to feel, this book will make you feel them.
I started it and had to put it down two pages in due to work demands, but once I picked it back up, I flew through it in a night, refusing to close my eyes until I got to the end. Can't wait for the sequel.
There needs to be darkness for there to be light.
Aimee at the tender age of 7 saw horrors that no person should see, let alone a child.
The last time Aimee saw her father he had just strangled the life out of the only person who she loved, her mother. And then decided he was going to brake her by turning her into one of his masterpieces.
Lucky for her Scott saved her and she could live as normal a life as the child of a serial killer could live.
Flash forward twenty years and Aimee (now Madison) has her PHD and is ready to start training to be an FBI agent. Then disaster strikes. Walsh (her father) has escaped from prison and wants to finish his beautiful masterpiece.
Scott joined the FBI, and thought he would never see the captivating Aimee Harper again. The he is asked to protect her from the monster that is her father. Soon he realizes that his love for her has never stopped and he would do anything to keep her save.
Liam has a dark side that he has tried to hide and oppress all his life. Alcohol and rough sex are the only things that help with the voices tormenting him. But then he meets Madison and he believes she might just be the light that could save him.
Will Scott be able to win Aimee's heart? Can Madison keep Liam's voices at bay? Can Madison survive the horror of her past that resurfaced just when she thought she could be happy.
Beautiful Masterpiece, that's the perfect name for this book because that's what it was. A MASTERPIECE.
Getting to read the story out of everyone's point of view was just perfect. We even get a small glimpse into the mind of the monster that is Walsh.
This was truly a great and exciting read.
