I first heard about this book from a fellow former usher who picked up this book from a local store in Cols. He said that there were lots of stories about the days of when he and I ushered at OSU (under Weber). He worked in the north area, I worked in the South stands before it became a permanent. It was interesting to see how the stands were put together and more importantly, we looked under to make sure we didn't see any broken bolts. There were heartaches and joys. We had one incident in which a elderly father and his son were trekking their way to the top of the South stands and unfortunately, the father's heart could not handle the strenous climb and he collapsed and died, right in the walkway leading up. Never forgot that tragedy. Then there were other things that made our job great! The fans! They were appreciative of our help and oftentimes let us know that.
Last but not least, one of the perks I had was that once the first quarter was over, we were dismissed from our station and could go in and watch the game wherever seats were available. Oftentimes I found myself holding the rope during half-time for the Buckeyes as they were coming into the locker room. From that vantage point, we got to see and sometimes meet some of the players and coaches. Wonderful memories.
Thanks for a good book!
PROS: In-depth stories, variety of topics, humorous at points (the 2 boys and the jokes about them using the words "hell" and "ass" was hilarious.
CONS: In some aspects, perhaps a bit too much minutiae.

this was a gift ...no feedback from him
My brothers were both ushers for OSU. I gave them each a copy for Christmas. They were thrilled.
